Unique Identification of Graviton Exchange Effects in e + e − Collisions
نویسنده
چکیده
Many types of new physics can lead to contact interaction-like modifications in e+e− processes below direct production threshold. We examine the possibility of uniquely identifying the effects of graviton exchange, which are anticipated in many extra dimensional theories, from amongst this large set of models by using the moments of the angular distribution of the final state particles. In the case of the e+e− → f f̄ process we demonstrate that this technique allows for the unique identification of the graviton exchange signature at the 5σ level for mass scales as high as 6 √ s. The extension of this method to the e+e− → W+W− process is also discussed. ∗Work supported by the Department of Energy, Contract DE-AC03-76SF00515

متن کاملun 2 00 3 Discriminating graviton exchange effects from other new physics scenarios in e + e − collisions
We study the possibility of uniquely identifying the effects of graviton exchange from other new physics in high energy ee annihilation into fermion-pairs. For this purpose, we use as basic observable a specific asymmetry among integrated differential distributions, that seems particularly suitable to directly test for such gravitational effects in the data analysis.

متن کاملSearches for Large Extra Dimensions at the Tevatron
The presence of extra dimensions can be probed in high energy collisions via the production or exchange of gravitons. The former corresponds to signatures with missing energy while the latter corresponds to modifications of the final state spectra. Here I review results of analyses performed by the CDF and DØ Collaborations on pp collisions at √ s = 1.96 TeV in signatures sensitive to large ext...
